Vivianite is a rare hydrated iron phosphate mineral named after John Henry Vivian. It forms blue-green to deep blue crystals that can change color over time. Found in sedimentary rocks, it indicates past environmental conditions. Vivianite is soft, with a specific gravity of 2.7 to 2.9. It occurs near other phosphate minerals and is sought after by collectors. However, it can be toxic due to trace amounts of toxic minerals present.
